37 injured in head on accident

At least 37 people were injured in a road accident involving a haulage truck and two commuter omnibuses along Glen Eagles road opposite
Varichem on Monday evening.

City of Harare Fire Brigade Station Officer Mr Evans Jena said the injured who had mutiple fractures have been ferried to Sally Mugabe Hospital.

According to eye witnesses, the haulage truck was turning right from Gleneagles Road and did not give way to oncoming traffic resulting in the head on collision of the two commuter omnibuses that were traveling in opposite directions.

The commuter omnibus drivers according to eye witnesses were trying to avoid the trailer of the truck.

The accident is believed to have happened around 6pm.

More than seven ambulances and trucks from the police ferried the injures to hospital.

By 7 10pm, all the injured had been taken to hospital.

No fatalities were recorded.
