4 arrested over burglary of shop belonging to VP Chiwenga’s wife

FOUR suspected thieves have been arrested on accusations of breaking into a shop owned by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wife, Mrs Miniyothabo Baloyi-Chiwenga, at Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale, Harare.

Blessed Luciano, Isaac Craig Chaza, Strive Matangira and Succeed Mukaro were apprehended by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Borrowdale yesterday.

Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, stating that the suspects were expected to appear in court tomorrow.

The group is accused of stealing mobile phones valued at US$13 420.

“The suspects were arrested yesterday and most of the mobile phones have been recovered.

“They were arrested yesterday (Tuesday) after Succeed Mukaro (19) was found selling some of the stolen cellphones. The stolen cellphones were worth US$13 420,” said Comm Nyathi.

He said the quartet was expected to appear in court today.
