4 family members killed in accident

FOUR family members from Harare including the driver died on the spot while two others were seriously injured when a car they were travelling in veered off the road and overturned several times, police confirmed yesterday. The accident happened at the 104km peg along the Chivhu-Roy Road.

The vehicle had six passengers on board when tragedy struck.
Acting Masvingo police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nkululeko Nduna said the accident happened on Friday at around 11.45 PM.

He added that the bodies of the accident victims were taken to Gutu Mission Hospital mortuary for postmortem while the injured were taken to the same hospital.

A 12-year-old boy who was seriously injured in the same accident was transferred to Masvingo General Hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

Those who perished in the accident were identified as family members, Benson Masiwire, 55; Eveline Mawisire, 65 and Sense Chisi, 50.
The name of Benson’s wife was not immediately provided, but all of them, the dead and the injured reside at 4625 Southerly Park, Harare.

“I can confirm receiving a road traffic accident report to the effect that four family members died on the spot.
“The driver of the vehicle, Isuzu KB, lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road before overturning,” said Asst Insp Nduna.

Police said the vehicle that was being driven by Benson, was travelling from Chivhu to Roy.
