4 family members killed in car crash

FOUR family members died in a head-on collision along Karoi-Binga Road on Sunday when a Honda Fit packed with 12 passengers crashed into a Ford Ranger with seven passengers.

In a statement  yesterday,  national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi  confirmed the incident.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on June 15, 2025, at 1830 hours at the 25 kilometre peg along Karoi-Binga Road, where a Ford Ranger vehicle with seven passengers on board collided head-on with a Honda Fit vehicle carrying 12 passengers,” he said.

“As a result, four people died on the spot, while 15 others were seriously injured.”

Comm Nyathi named those who died in the accident, who have been identified by their next of kin.

The victims, all from Dixie Farm, Magunje, and members of the same family, have been identified as Eunice Matonde (13), Debra Matonde (8), Letwin Matonde (3) and Juliet Matonde (32).

“The bodies of the victims were taken to Karoi District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem and the injured were referred to the same hospital for treatment,” he added.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores motorists to exercise caution on the roads and avoid overloading vehicles to safeguard human lives.”
