4 injured in shooting at illegal gold mine

Police in Mashonaland East Province have arrested three security guards from Braising Security Company for shooting illegal gold miners at Arcturus Mine in Goromonzi over the week-end.

The guards shot at a group of 30 illegal miners, seriously injuring four who are battling for their lives.
Police spokesperson for Mashonaland East Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident, which took place on September 2.

“The injured panners were rushed to Parirenyatwa by their colleagues. The injured are Winston Mukandawire (26), Tatenda Gukwe (30), Wilson Murai (29). These three are from Arcturus Mine compound and Tinashe Kanyemba, who is in a critical condition, and is from Epworth.

“The guards were later arrested after a report was made, and they will answer to attempted murder charges,” said Inspector Mwanza
