Recently-crowned Miss Beitbridge 2018, Rutendo Mukandatsama (19) has started preparing for Miss Tourism finals scheduled for Bulawayo on September 22, where she will be representing Matabeleland South Province.

The pageant is one of the biggest events which provide a platform to educate people and promote the country’s tourism and culture.

The supermodel’s spokesperson and mentor Miss Vanessa Mbedzi said Mukandatsama was working hard and confident of winning.

Miss Mbedzi is a professional model who competed for Miss Zimbabwe USA (2012), Miss Africa USA and Carnival Queen of Zimbabwe and Miss World Zimbabwe in the same year.

“We are working on getting her into good shape and the right mind-set ahead of one of the biggest events on the entertainment calendar in the county,” she said.

“She is reading a lot and following current affairs with keen interest and meeting people and talking to them. This will help put her be at ease before the judges and when speaking on stage.

“Ruvimbo is keeping herself fit by eating well and working out. She is practising her stage walk every day for it to be flawless and effortless.

“This will give her poise, confidence on stage and eliminate nerves.”

Miss Mbedzi said they covered enough ground and was very confident Mukandatsama was destined for success.

According to Miss Mbedzi, Mukandatsama was engaged in several projects and charities in the border town to uplift the youth, especially the girl child.

“The key issue is to practice, so she is confident in every aspect of the pageant,” she said.

Mukandatsama was crowned Miss Beitbridge 2018 at a colourful event held at Purple Heart Hall in the border town in April this year where she shrugged off the challenge from seven other contestants.

The other finalists were Amanda Makate (17) crowned the first princess, Miss Talent and the People’s Choice, while the duo of Carolis Moyo (17) and Samukeliso Nyathi (23) were the second princess and Miss Personality respectively.

Roynah Kassim (18), Alethia Shumba (23), Valentine Makere (19) and Charlyn Muleya (21) completed the set.
