40 women get special awards

Sunday Mail Reporter

MORE than 40 women received accolades at the 2023 Women in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Awards in Harare on Friday.

The awards were organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ).

Speaking at the awards ceremony, ICAZ president Mrs Manyara Chigunduru said the accolades have been designed to honour unsung heroines in the corporate world.

“We celebrate women who have emerged as champions of inclusivity, leadership, progression and development. We also celebrate the attraction and retention of women in the GRC industry, in both the public and private sectors.”

Mrs Chigunduru said investing in women and developing systems that accommodate women is the right thing to do for all corporations.

“Women are not being accommodated for the sake of ticking the boxes, but because they have the right knowledge, wisdom and grit to be leaders in their own right.”

The awards honour female leaders who have or are demonstrating excellence across GRC.
