44 000 H-Town houses regularised

THE Harare City Council has regularised 44 000 stands, according to its Environmental Management Committee chairperson, Councillor Blessing Duma.

Duma said that 60 percent of areas had been investigated to see if they were suitable for human settlement.

The council has also started regularising various pay schemes, including Northmead in Warren Park, Mabvuku and Royal in Budiriro, and is aiming to complete the process as soon as possible, to prevent further land invasions.

However, the Development Control Unit will be sent to quell any overnight developments.

“We expect that after the process is done, there won’t be any more land invasions in Harare.

“We urge citizens and residents to cooperate with our officers who will be on the ground to collect the necessary details and inspections needed for the process,” Duma said.
