The pupils from Chiweshe Primary Sch-ool died on the spot on Tuesday while their 12 colleagues sustained serious injuries when the truck veered off the road and over-turned near the 10km peg along the Melfort-Rusike Road in Goromonzi.
The truck rammed into trees on the side of the road before landing on its left side, scattering the pupils who were at the back on impact.
National Traffic police spokesperson Ins-pector Tigere Chigome yesterday said the injured pupils and the driver were taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital.
“The vehicle was being driven by Wonderford Nyamarombe from Manna Farm and had 15 Chiweshe Primary School pupils and two others from Rusununguko Secon-dary School,” he said.
Insp Chigome said on approaching the 10km peg, the vehicle veered off the road and hit several trees before landing on its left side.

The deceased were identified as Allan Masekere (11) who was in Grade Five, Robert Chirimamhanga (13) Grade Seven, John Antonio (7) Grade Two, Quest Muko-mbwe (12) Grade Five and Ashton Chakanya (13) Grade Seven.
They were all from Manna Farm.
On Wednesday, eight people also perished while 11 others were injured when a Nissan Caravan they were travelling in burst a tyre and rolled three times along the Roy-Chi-redzi Road.
Insp Chigome said the kombi was being driven by Oliver Mukwedega (30) and was heading towards Chiredzi town when the accident occurred at around 3:30 pm.
Insp Chigome said the vehicle’s left rear tyre burst before it swerved and overturned three times killing eight people on the spot.
“We have so far managed to identify two of the eight people who were killed and we would like to urge people to travel with their identification particulars for easy identification in situations like this,” he said.
The two are Esnath Mazhanya (60) and Esnath Murambatsvina (36) of Zaka.
The bodies of the other six who have not been identified are at Musiso Hospital mortuary in Zaka.
In yet another accident, three people were killed yesterday when a South African registered commuter omnibus collided with a Mitsubishi Colt truck at the 65km peg along the Harare-Masvingo high- way.
