5 Zimbabwe Cricketers who could feature in the IPL

In the 15-year history of the Indian Premier League, cricketers from Zimbabwe have largely been overlooked. Brendan Taylor was the most consistent in terms of appearances while Tatenda Taibu and Ray Price were briefly used by Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians respectively.

Following Zimbabwe’s strong showing in the T20 World Cup, things could be about to change. A number of cricketers could come under the radar when the next IPL auction takes place and here are five players with a strong claim.

Teams Looking for Talent

Which IPL franchise teams will be looking for reinforcements in 2023? Each side will assess the availability of players at the auction, but some have a greater need than others. A strong independent view comes from the sports betting markets who make Gujarat Titans favourites for the win next year.

The closest challenges are expected to come from Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. At the wrong end of that market, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings are the underdogs.

The figures in question are supplied by sources attached to SBO.net who list hundreds of reliable online betting sites from around the world. It’s a good way to monitor the IPL as those odds will update right through the competition.

While considering the numbers, readers can take on board a host of additional information before they make a decision. Breaking news, general opinion and handy betting guides are published here.

If anyone does want to put that knowledge to the test, each sportsbook referenced by SBO will be willing to accept new account holders. Welcome packages can usually be found upon receipt of a safe and secure online registration form.

Funds will be required in order to cover opening bets and a range of deposit providers can help with these. There will be a choice of customer service methods while other advantages can also be found.

Anyone looking to play on a regular basis should find ongoing promotions, together with live markets and a choice of other sports.

It’s a logical site to follow for any form of cricket betting, but which players from Zimbabwe are ready to make a mark at the IPL?

Sean Williams

Sean Williams is arguably the most reliable player in the Zimbabwe team. Primarily an all-rounder, he can also take useful wickets with his left arm spin.

The statistics show that Williams’ patient approach to batting has yielded more success in One Day Internationals, but he can also bring valuable experience to any underperforming franchise.

Brad Evans

Zimbabwe needed a cool head to bowl the last over in their 2022 World Cup match with Pakistan. Step forward Brad Evans whose pace and accuracy got his team over the line by the narrowest of one-run margins.

He’s a tall bowler with genuine pace and that will be an asset in any team. Evans can also score useful runs down the order and has a century in List A cricket.

Blessing Muzarabani

Speaking of height, Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani is a giant fast bowler who can generate steep bounce from most surfaces. He’s previously played in the Pakistan Super League and is therefore no stranger to franchise cricket.

Muzarabani has 39 wickets in his first 32 T20 international matches and that’s an impressive haul. He’s still only 25 and may just have the best chance of any Zimbabwe player to earn an IPL contract.

Ryan Burl

Another key all-rounder, Ryan Burl bowls leg spin and can hit the ball to all parts in the death overs. In a match against Bangladesh earlier in 2022, he smashed 34 runs in a single over.

Burl has two half centuries in T20is but he’s in the side for his bowling. His 32 wickets include best figures of 3/13 while his economy rate of 7.28 is impressive at this level.

Sikandar Raza

He’s arguably the most accomplished cricketer in the squad and has played for a host of franchise teams from around the world. His Pakistan heritage would hopefully not provide a barrier because Sikandar Raza could be a force in the IPL.

Raza proved his international credentials at the 2022 World Cup with three consecutive Player of the Match awards.
