50 cents cost man an eye

A man lost his eye in a fight over 50 cents.

Bright Ndlovu (28) was drinking alcohol withA� Philisani Tshuma (22) at the Mpofu Bar Co-operative area in Inyathi when an argument ensued leading to a fight in which he lost his right eye.

Ita��s said Tshuma accused Ndlovu of having stolen his 50 cents and the latter didna��t take the accusations lightly.

At the height of the fight Tshuma picked up an iron bar and hit Ndlovu on the face. Ndlovu bled profusely and was ferried to Inyathi District Hospital. It was discovered that the injured eye was badly damaged.

A police report was made at Inyathi police station leading to Tshumaa��s arrest.

Facing an assault charge before magistrate on circuit, Temba Chimiso at Inyathi courts, he pleaded not guilty.

a�?I didna��t hit him with an iron bar but I pushed him against the wall in self defence. As a result he bled from the mouth and nose. Ia��m shocked when he says I hit him with an iron bar in the face,a�?said Ndlovu.

He was remanded in custody to next Wednesday for continuation of the trial.
