A 50-year-old man appeared in court on two counts of fraud involving more than US$7 500.

Sydney Hondo Maneswa was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare Magistrate Evelyn Mashavaku-re, who remanded him to tomorrow for bail application.

Allegations are that sometime in August, the complainant was looking for timber and approached Maneswa.

He stated he was in the business of supplying processed timber and was employed at Stapleford in Nyanga.

It is further alleged that Maneswa was given US$7 500 to supply processed timber. Maneswa took the money, became evasive thereafter, and even blocked the complainant’s number.

The court heard that Maneswa converted the money to his personal use.

Maneswa was then trapped and arrested.

In another case, Maneswa was given US$2000 to supply timber by another complainant and failed to do so.

Pardon Dziva led the State.
