ABOUT 502 learners from seven vocational training centres in Mashonaland East Province have graduated with certificates and diplomas in various fields at a function held at Tabudirira Vocational Training Centre, Mutoko District, today.

The graduation ceremony was officiated by Youth, Empowerment Development and Vocational Training Deputy Minister Kudakwashe Mupamhanga, who implored graduates to use acquired skills towards the economic development of the nation.

“To our graduands: The skills and knowledge you have acquired are vital to national development,” he said

“I challenge you to apply these skills deliberately and meaningfully for the benefit of our country. This graduation is not the end. It is a milestone in your lifelong journey of learning. In a world that is constantly evolving, you must continue to upgrade your skills and reinvent yourselves. You are our pride, and we expect you to be work-ready, life-ready, and world-ready.”

He said his ministry is implementing the Strategic Framework for the Transformation of the Vocational Training System, which includes infrastructure improvement, retooling and equipment upgrades, staff capacity development, curriculum review, as well as enhanced productivity.

“This framework will position VTCs as key players in achieving macro-economic stability, economic recovery, and wealth creation,” he said.

“It also ensures that gender equity, disability inclusion, arts and creative industries, environmental sustainability, and ICT integration are mainstreamed in our training systems.”
