Tawanda Mangoma in Chiredzi
Chiredzi West constituency is poised to benefit from $50 000 received under the Constituency Development Fund. The money will be used in small projects which would be supervised by the Chiredzi West Development Committee, which was set up to superintend over the use of the fund.
Member of Parliament for the area Cde Darlington Chiwa thanked Government for timeously releasing the CDF.
“We are very delighted as a constituency that our Constituency Development Committee managed to draft a feasible work-plan, which saw the Government led by President Emerson Mnangagwa releasing $50 000 under the Constituency Development Fund,” said Cde Chiwa.
“Several projects are already being implemented in the constituency’s 13 wards. The Constituency Development Committee has identified borehole drilling at the ZRP Camp in ward 2 and renovation of a vegetable market in Ward 3.’’
Cde Chiwa said the large chunk of money would be used to fund projects, which Chiredzi Town Council had failed to implement over the past few years.
“In Ward 4 we are planning to rehabilitate washing sinks and repair ablution walls at some dormitory flats while in Ward 6 we will soon start construction of a new flea market. In Ward 7 and 8, we will drill two boreholes and roof a ZRP post in one of the wards,’’ said Cde Chiwa.
The Chiredzi West legislator said Chiredzi Town council has since been roped in to supervise the projects and make sure they meet requisite standards.
Chiredzi Town Council secretary Mr Charles Muchatukwa welcomed the release of CDF funds by Government saying it would spur development in Chiredzi West constituency.
“The Constituency Development Committee has notified council in writing on how they intend to use the Constituency Development Fund. As Chiredzi Town Council we are delighted with the scope of work, which Cde Chiwa and his CDF committee are doing and we will continue to work together in the quest to make Chiredzi a better town for all,” said Mr Muchatukwa.
