IT’S game over for a trio of young thugs who terrorised Gwanda and surrounding areas during a violent robbery spree.
Respect Khumalo (22), Onias Tembo (19) and Mokesi Ndlovu (18) have been caged after the Gwanda Magistrates’ Court found them guilty of unleashing terror between September and November 2024.
The daring gang, armed to the teeth with a .45 Colt pistol, machetes, pepper spray, axes and stones, left a trail of blood and trauma in Gwanda, Guyu and West Nicholson.
“They shot victims, pepper-sprayed and assaulted others, and made off with cash, alcohol, electronics, and even a vehicle,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said in a statement.
Among the most chilling crimes were the attempted murder of a Spitzkop resident and the shooting of a security guard at Energy Park Service Station.
Their loot included firearms, a Toyota Vitz, cellphones, rands and US dollars, alcohol and household goods.
Justice has finally caught up with the criminals:
• Khumalo: 32 years effective jail time
• Tembo: 16 years behind bars
• Ndlovu: 4 years in prison
“Violent crime will not be tolerated, and the safety of our communities remains our top priority,” said the NPAZ.
