AN 18-year-old woman has been arraigned before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court, charged with deliberately supplying false rape information to a public authority.

According to a press statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the woman whose name was not provided had on May 9, 2025, at around 9.30 pm, reported a rape case against an individual only named as “Mupostori” to the police.

However, on May 19, 2025, the offender informed the police that she had not been raped and had only been assaulted by the victim after she tried to steal from him.

The offender knowingly provided false information to the police just out of spite.

She was convicted and sentenced to six months in prison, of which two months were suspended for five years.

The remaining four months were suspended on condition that she performs 140 hours of community service.
