7 Bafa teams walked over

SEVEN Bulawayo Amateur Football Association (Bafa) teams were walked over yesterday for failing to pay at least 75 percent of their affiliation fees.

Mpilo, Eleven Stars, Crusaders, Dynamic Diesel, Rebels, Seven Warriors and United FC failed to meet the October 13 deadline set to pay at least three-quarters of the $150 required by Bafa.

“Teams were advised that those who have not paid at least 75 percent in affiliation fees will be walked over and the deadline for payment was on October 13. We have been patient enough as the association. We understood the economic hardships and that is why we asked all teams to pay at least three-quarters of the affiliation fee”, said Bafa board member Peter Chikepe.

“Teams, however, seem to have taken advantage of our patience, leaving us with no choice but to have all those who did not pay to be walked over.

They must understand that we are trying very hard to make this league as professional as possible, hence the need to abide by the association’s rules.”

As a result, Anolle Castings, Laduma, Safeguard, Securico, SBC Falcons and Vipers were all awarded three points each.

Chikepe said some teams tried to respond at the last minute, but it was too late as the Barbourfields Stadium outside grounds had already been booked. He reiterated that only those that have paid would be allowed to participate in league games next week.

The only match played this weekend saw Nga Chronicle beating Unity Village 2-1. Saymore Mpofu and Tino Chakanyuka were on target for Nga Chronicle, while Unity Village scored through Limukani Ndlovu. — @khumzallen
