7 Cote d’Ivoire teachers in examination scandal

d’Ivoire (BEPC), a source close to the education authorities said on Sunday.
The sources said that some of the teachers were arrested in possession of corrected examination papers which they were taking to some candidates, while others were arrested when they were showing the answers to the candidates they were invigilating.
Those suspected of involvement in exam cheating were transferred to Abidjan detention center.
In an interview with journalists, the national education general inspector Ibrahima Kourouma reiterated the education authorities’ commitment to fight against all forms of cheating in examinations across the national territory.
He said that the education authorities had decided to increase vigilance against all types of cheating in examinations.
Last week, some 300 000 candidates sat for  their  BEPC examinations which enables students who complete their first cycle of secondary education to proceed to the second cycle of general education. — Xinhua.
