THE Epworth Local Board says it is continuing with demolitions targeting illegal vending sites and other unauthorised structures, in line with the Cabinet position on illegal vending.
In an interview, Epworth town secretary Dr Wilton Mhanda said the local authority began the demolitions on Sunday and had made progress despite a setback when its machinery was damaged.
“On Monday, we had a setback when our machine was attacked and damaged,” he said.
Dr Mhanda said the exercise resumed on Tuesday, with teams covering Wards 1, 2, 3 and 4 before moving to Wards 5 and 6.
“We are continuing with the exercise. As long as people are on the streets, we will continue but we believe they are going to take heed of the call,” he said.
