7 theft suspects nabbed

POLICE in Gweru have arrested seven suspected housebreakers and recovered property worth thousands of dollars. Detectives arrested the suspects on August 28 following the discovery of stolen electrical gadgets. Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Shadreck Chigagura said police have linked the suspects to various cases of unlawful entry and theft in and around Gweru. Insp Chigagura appealed to residents to come forward and identify the recovered property.

“We’ve discovered electrical gadgets which comprise five plasma televisions, five laptops, 8 cellphones and various clothing items,” said Insp Chigagura.

“Police are appealing to Gweru residents and surrounding communities to come forward and assist in the identification of the property.”

He urged members of the public to put identification marks on their property for easy recognition when police recover it from thieves.

“Police are appealing to those who were victims of burglary and theft to contact Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Gweru on tel-054224497 or 221073 and assist in the identification of recovered property,” he said.
