Highlanders Football Club has appointed an interim leadership team to ensure continuity in the administration of the club following the passing of chairman (Retd) Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, vice chairman Sifiso Siziba and executive committee member Nkani Khoza.
In a statement on Saturday, the Bulawayo-based giants said the appointments were made following an emergency meeting, chaired by Board Chairman Luke Mnkandla.
“Executive committee member responsible for technical affairs, Kindman Ndlovu, has been appointed acting chairman and will work closely with executive member marketing Mr Morgen Dube,” reads the statement.
“Board member Elkanah Dube will oversee the club’s administration, while board secretary Matthew Sibindi has been entrusted with overseeing the club’s financial affairs.
“These interim appointments are intended to ensure stability, continuity and the effective day-to-day running of the Club during this difficult period of mourning.”
The club said the process of filling the substantive executive positions will be undertaken in accordance with its constitution following the conclusion of the mourning period.
