SEVENTY-FIVE percent of exhibition space at the Masvingo Agriculture Show  has been taken up. The show starts next week from September 26 to 28 under the theme “Promoting Economic Growth and Stability”.
Masvingo Show Society spokesperson Jephta Mathose said this year’s show promised to be bigger and more exciting given the interest it had generated from new exhibitors mainly rural farmers.

“We’ve a number of new rural exhibitors who have expressed interest to showcase their wares this year than any other year. This could be due to a bumper harvest experienced this year.

“We’re encouraged by this new phenomenon. It shows that our provincial show is becoming popular,” said Mathose.

“Three quarters of space has been occupied and with the rate at which we’re getting inquiries, we’re likely to surpass the target of 100 percent. Last year, we ended up allowing some exhibitors to pitch tents on any open spaces. This year the interest is overwhelming.”

Mathose said this year’s show would be unique as it would start with a business conference to be held at Chevron Hotel.

“There’ll be a business conference where captains of industry will present on a number of topical issues affecting Masvingo in business perspective.

“The conference will be at Chevron in partnership with Masvingo business directory,” he said.

Among the presenters at the business conference is Zifm chief executive officer Susan Makore, Reformed Church University (RCU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Wiseman Magwa, N Richards group director Andrew Chekani and Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister  Kudakwashe Bhasikiti.

“In addition to a host of business activities, we’ve a full package of entertainment in the form of drama, poetry, theatre and music. We’ll have the army band, Mutimurefu Prison Inmates cultural group. Top of the billing will be Alick Macheso and Sulumani                            Chimbetu whom we’re yet to agree on a few things,” said Mathose.
