8 000 attend show

This is an increase of 937 from last year’s attendance of 7 045.
Zimbabwe Agriculture Society public relations manager, Mrs Sibonginkosi Muteyiwa said a total of 7 982 had passed through the Exhibition Park gates during the first three days.
“The first days are usually associated with a low turn out as it would be time for business people to interact and exchange knowledge.
“This year we hope to surpass last year’s attendance. We expect more people this year considering that we have more exciting things lined up,’ she said.
Last year, the show ran over 10 days with 130 000 people attending.
The 101st Agriculture Show has also recorded an increase in the number of exhibitors from last year’s 750 to 1 000 this year.
Foreign companies are among the exhibitors this year.
This year’s show is running under the theme “Celebrating Agricultural Growth and Promoting Green Business” and will be running for nine days.
Musicians entertaining show goers include Oliver Mtukudzi, Fungisai Mashavave, Tongai Moyo, Sulumani Chimbetu, Biggie Tembo Junior and urban groovers.
Children pay US$1 while adults pay US$5 to get in.
Tomorrow will be a student’s day where all pupils in uniform will be admitted free of charge.
ZAS will be holding a competition for the students who will be asked questions about local food manufacturers and their products.
