7 perish in Hwedza-Goto road accident

Seven people died while 11 others were injured when a Nissan Caravan that they were travelling in veered off the road and overturned several times before landing back on its wheels.
The vehicle was carrying 19 people. The accident occurred along Hwedza-Goto Road near Maruta Primary School about 5 km from Hwedza Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

All the passengers were reported to be coming from burying their relative in Ruzane Village in Hwedza.

The injured were rushed to Mt St Marys Hospital where others were transferred to Sally Mugabe and Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals while the bodies of the deceased were ferried to Mt St Marys’ Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

He said the majority of the deceased are members of the same family.
