200kilowatt solar grid commissioned

President Mnangagwa on Thursday commissioned a 200-kilowatt solar mini-grid at Hwakwata village in Chipinge as the Second Republic scales up rural development in line with its thrust of leaving no one and no place behind.
The Head of State and Government, who was represented by Energy and Power Development Minister Edgar Moyo commissioned the project which is set to transform several lives of Hwakwata rural community under Chief Musikavanhu with electricity and portable water

Living standards for villagers located about 50 kilometers from Checheche growth point in Chipinge, a few kilometres from the Mozambican border, will improve significantly.

The project was implemented by the Government and the United Nations Development Programme with financial aid support from the United Kingdom’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office and the Rural Electrification Agency Fund.
