A Chinhoyi man who was in the habit of abusing drugs has been found guilty of indecent assault after he forced a juvenile to smoke marijuana.

Andrew Gondo (25) of Mpata Section in Chinhoyi, appeared before Chinhoyi Magistrate, Mr Ignatius Mugova, who found him guilty of the charge.

He was initially sentenced to 12 years imprisonment before four years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.

The complainant in the case is a juvenile boy aged eight years.

Mr Nyasha Sibesha, prosecuting, told the court that sometime this year, Gondo invited the juvenile to his house, where he made him smoke cigarettes and some marijuana.

After indecently assaulting the boy, Gondo threatened to kill him if he told anyone.

Mr Sibesha told the court that the accused also gave the boy some money, sweets and other items to silence him.

The abuse kept happening on different occasions until February, when Gondo also invited the juvenile where he made the juvenile smoke marijuana and crystal meth (mutoriro).

The juvenile was seen by a passerby smoking before informing the boy’s mother.

The case was reported to Chemagamba Police Station before Gondo’s arrest.
