Chinhoyi hit by stray dogs menace

Conrad Mupesa Mashonaland West Bureau

RESIDENTS have petitioned the Municipality of Chinhoyi to rein in on dog owners that roam across suburbs unmonitored.

They fear the wandering animals might put them at the risk of rabies.

Ironically, during the 2022 budget consultations, residents repudiated the dog license fee that was proposed by council to address the challenge.

Residents’ WhatsApp groups were this morning awash with messages raising concerns over the stray dogs.

Municipality spokesperson, Mr Tichaona Mlauzi said the wandering dogs would be put out.

At law, dogs are only allowed to stroll on a leash with owner holding the other end.
