Greetings to you all, I hope I find you well. Just to take you back in time in one of the episodes on “Family Matters” sitcom starring American television and film actor Jaleel White who was born Jaleel Ahmad White on November 27. He was cast in the role of Steve Urkel on “Family Matters”.

The character, which was originally intended to be a one-time guest appearance, was an instant hit with audiences and White or is it Steve became a regular cast member. The series aired for a total of nine seasons, from  1989-1997 on ABC, and from 1997-1998 on CBS. Zimbabweans watched the sitcom on ZBC.

After “Family Matters” ended, White starred in the UPN series “Grown Ups” from 1999-2000. He later attended UCLA where he graduated with a degree in film and television in 2001.

He has continued his acting career with roles in “Dreamgirls” (2006), and guest stints on “Boston Legal”, “House” and “Psych”.
In March 2012, White appeared as a contestant in season 14 of “Dancing with the Stars” and was voted off in May 2012. In April 2012, White hosted the game show “Total Blackout.

Quite an interestingly character he is, but I remember vividly how he got stuck up in a train on Christmas Day.  However, seeing that there was no breakthrough, they decided to celebrate Christmas on the train singing carols until the next day. That episode taught me one lesson that no matter where you are Christmas is always what it is.

Speaking of which yours truly had a sad Christmas after my mentor and close buddie Eden Chideya died a day before Christmas. This was a Christmas with a difference and one I never imagined. My only hope is that he met his creator.

And now over to the small screen, TRACE Sport Stars has been opened to a whole new audience for a month.  Beginning on December 18, 2013 to January 18, 2014, the channel, dedicated exclusively to sports celebrities will be open to DStv Access, Family, Compact and Compact plus subscribers.
