WHAT about a musical date with Sungura superstar Alick Macheso and Winky D, which costs about a dollar, at Rufaro tomorrow?
Not bad for this month when many of the major artists usually take a break after a hectic end-of-year period.
Those who want to watch the show will only need to bring two packs of SWAN Valley cigarettes which cost about US$1.
Before that you will also have a chance to watch some of the country’s finest musicians playing a challenge football match against the legends of the industry.
You can call it old school versus new school, if you want.
There will also be a similar football showdown between the Dynamos Legends and their CAPS United counterparts in a journey back into a time when the two giants were the dominant force in the game.
This entertainment package has been put together by the SWAN Valley Group.
The company is introducing Zimbabwe’s newest cigarette brands.
The SWAN team will play against a Star FM team in yet another football challenge match.
Winky D will be performing at Rufaro for the first time in seven years.
Dubbed the “Harare Edition,” the show will feature other artists like Master H, Kinnah, Nisha T, Saintfloew, Darula, Mcdrot and the ChillSpot Family of DJ Fantan and Levels.
SWAN Valley Group MD, Mutemwa Ushewokunze, said this was part of their social responsibility programmes to give back to their community.
“We have got a number of fantastic artists, Macheso, obviously famed and favoured, Winky D, who hasn’t performed in Mbare for many years, and I’m sure there’s a community here that’s really looking forward to seeing him, Master H and a couple of others.
“We’ve tried to support some young up-and-coming talent by giving them some stage time to showcase their skills and their talent and, hopefully, it will be a really good day.
“So, you know, we’ve tried to make it as cheap as possible for people to interact with our products.
“What we’re asking the public to do is to bring two packs of SWAN products and that will give you access to the event, those two packs will cost you a dollar.“
“The fun kicks off at 9 am and runs until 3pm leading straight into an epic free concert showcasing the best of Zimbabwean talent,” he said.
Ushewokunze returned home four years ago, after working outside the country for 20 years, saying the time was now right for him to play a part in Zimbabwe’s transformation.
The SWAN Valley Group officially announced its entry into the Zimbabwean market last year at a function which was attended by Industry and Commerce Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu and his Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services counterpart, Dr Jenfan Muswere.
Deputy Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, also attended the function.
