KHAMA Billiat, Walter Musona and Lynoth Chikuhwa are likely to be honoured again at the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) Player of the Year Awards set for Harare tonight.

Wonder Sithole, the FUZ secretary-general, confirmed that they will have their awards at a Harare hotel this evening.

Invitations to winning players and a number of invited guests have already been sent.

Billiat, who won the Fans’ Soccer Star of the Year award at the Soccer Stars of the Year bash last month, set the domestic Premiership ablaze with his skills on his return home last season.

He is heavily tipped to win the award.Playing for a modest side, Yadah Stars, Billiat still showed that he was a class act as he ended the season with 13 league goals.

Only Golden Boot winner Chikuhwa, with 17, scored more goals.

Billiat finished third in the Soccer Star of the Year race.

The forward’s presence in the league gave it a certain value that saw interest coming from the media, and agents, based outside the country.

He was also influential in the Warriors’ qualification for the AFCON finals in Morocco later this year.

Musona, was an influential element for both Simba Bhora, who won the championship, and the Warriors.

He is a player blessed with technique, the ability to rise to the occasion, and deliver with ease, and his ability to play as an outright striker or a decoy, was a marvel to watch.

Chikuhwa finished the season as the top goalscorer in the Premiership with 17 goals and was the 2024 Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year first runner-up.

All the three players are now at Scottland as Tonderai Ndiraya looks set to unleash a lethal strikeforce in the domestic Premiership this year.

He has also added Tymon Machope, who had double figures in terms of goals, and Mbongeni Minezhi, who finished as the top goalscorer in the ZIFA Southern Region Division One League.

FUZ official Herbert Dick said everything was in place for a colourful event with the organisation having used its own resources.

“We are still open to having partners for the event. So far so good, players are already in Harare ahead of the event,” said Dick.
