BUSINESSMAN Tatenda Samkange celebrated his 30th birthday with probably the biggest party in Harare so far this year where a prominent DJ was flown in from South Africa while Jah Prayzah led the local stars who provided the musical soundtrack.
The super party, hosted by Skylake Borehole Drilling boss, attracted A-List celebrities as guests and was held against a background theme of black or white or monochrome, or both.
Held at his opulent residence in the prestigious Pokugara Residential Estate, the event drew an array of Harare’s elite — from politicians and socialites to celebrities, musicians, business moguls, models, and fashionistas, all clad in their finest attire.
There were about 150 A-List guests at the mega party. This was something which looked more like a Hollywood party than one which was being held in Harare.

The capital’s rich and famous flaunted their elegance against a backdrop of glitz and glamour.
Samukange received a US$10 000 cash present from his best friend Dr Henry Dandadza.
The invitation guidelines appeared to be clear — to attend, one had to famous, rich or a celebrity.
With such an illustrious guest list, it was no surprise that everyone understood the assignment and dressed to impress — just a day after Valentine’s Day, when lovers painted the town red and white.
Samukange’s party shifted the palette to black and white — a sophisticated choice that echoed the timeless elegance of classic Hollywood parties.
The air was thick with excitement, laughter and the soft clinking of glasses as guests revelled in the luxurious ambiance created by exquisite décor.
The various designer labels donned by the guests added an extra layer of allure, transforming the night into a runway of fashion.
As the clock approached 7pm, the festivities began.
Samukange made a grand entrance in a brown Fendi jacket, ensuring he was the centre of both attraction and attention.
The celebrations continued well into the early hours of Sunday morning, as guests were serenaded by the pulsating beats of Zimdancehall sensation Killer T, the melodious tunes of contemporary musician Jah Prayzah, and the electrifying mixes of South African DJ Heavy K.
The energy was palpable.
To add a touch of theatrical flair, Samukange had hired some “fire girls” who dazzled the crowd with their mesmerising performances.
Despite the heavy rains, the guests were well sheltered.
Renowned chef Danii brought in a talented Chinese chef to provide a diverse array of dishes.
The buffet was an expansive feast, allowing guests to indulge at their leisure, while those wishing to avoid the queues were graciously catered for.
The evening was further elevated by a skilled mixologist, ready to craft guests’ favourite cocktails on the spot.
The hostess for the night, radio personality Becky K, commanded the stage with her charismatic presence, seamlessly guiding the evening’s festivities. In his heartfelt speech, Samukange expressed his joy to celebrate this significant milestone surrounded by close friends.
“It is not about business or money but I am happy that everyone here is special to me. Thank you for celebrating with me.
“I know there are ‘Honourables’ and socialites here, but let us enjoy,” he said, reflecting the warmth and camaraderie that defined the evening.
Samukange added:
“You always see me on social media traveling and doing business with my best friend Dr Henry. This is my last birthday celebration without a wife. Let me clear the air, I am not single. I was supposed to engage with my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day or my birthday, but she is not here with us.”
The intricate planning and coordination of the event were overseen by the Ruolay Agency, led by Ruth Ogbechi.
She said:
“He wanted the décor to chronicle his lifestyle. If you saw the red carpet, it was telling a story. We had a tough time planning and designing what he wanted, especially with the rain disrupting our plans. I broke my nail, busy with the show, but seeing Tatenda smile makes it all worthwhile.”
As the night drew to a close, the guests departed with hearts full of joy, leaving behind a tapestry of memories that will linger long after the last note fades. (H-Metro)
