Patson Dzamara has just done it, again! Just at a time when we all thought that we had seen enough – and got fed up – with his histrionics around the so-called disappearance of his brother Itai, Patson Dzamara pulled a shocker. This week he hauled children to his looney shows where he put the children in the frontline of an illegal demonstration ostensibly to commemorate 17 months of the so-called disappearance of the older Dzamara.Since Itai withdrew from public view, under largely controversial and shady circumstances, Patson has been trying to milk the so-called disappearance for his personal glory.
Those who know him recognise him for an attention seeker and a failed author of uninspiring motivational books.
The Itai saga has provided him with a perfect excuse to try to shore glory upon himself.
This is largely about financial rewards from the donor community, which has been hard to come by.
The season is lean for everyone – and especially so the regime change donor community that appears not too ready to invest in such projects at the moment.
The season is not just ripe, although a few crumbs are being thrown about.
These are the crumbs that all sorts of characters in the opposition civil society have been jostling over and Patson even is reported to have received some crumbs not so long ago.
But the belts have been tight.
This has in turn forced the likes of Patson to be more and more creative in search of attention and by extension donor money.
For Patson it is worse as he is also said to have been charging people to go and talk to his mother over the fate of his brother.
The other time he showed us an effigy that he purported to be a picture of his brother.
Only him and God knows about where the crucial information he promised to divulge went.
Now, this week he went a sickening notch up.
We did not expect that even from somebody with a drama queen mentality.
We are glad that there has been enough outrage against this despicable act.
Children are children and should not be abused like that especially by a man with political ambitions and voracious apetite for attention which, as we hear, dates back to his days in high school.
In fact, this is the reason why many in the opposition and private media often disprove of his actions in whispers.
Sinking lower
If the actions of Patson Dzamara make a new low for the drama-loving fake doctor, we are quite depressed that our colleagues at Daily News saw nothing wrong in it all and did not even sense the magnanimity and professionalism of the police who walked away confronted with human shields of children.
It is reported: “In an unprecedented move, missing activist Itai Dzamara’s family — together with political parties and civic society, including Jestina Mukoko — yesterday protested and confronted police, with children on the front-line.
“During the protest, in which they demanded the return of Dzamara dead or alive, the children walked up to the armed police and offered them flowers and cakes before calling on them to remove their riot gear and join the fight against Government’s misrule. However, the police turned their backs and retreated into their trucks.”
In the warped sense of our friends at the Daily News, the child abusing villains became heroes!
House that Evan built
We have noted above that all the agitation that is taking place in the opposition circles is down to money as the quislings are coming up with all manner of stratagems to cream off donor money.
So far the person who has most successfully done that is Evan Mawarire, the Baptist pastor of the so-called #ThisFlag campaign.
He managed to use his supposed moral and social standing as pastor to launch an attack on Government and lucky him he won the hearts of mostly young urbanites and those in the Diaspora many of who belong to the opposition but have been disillusioned.
Too bad, though!
They have been taken for a ride by Mawarire as he has managed to use his currency to fatten his pockets through the cheques of the regime change pursuers in Zimbabwe and has been domiciled in the plush suburb of South Africa called Sandton.
It is where the rich of that country and visiting rich executives from other parts of the world come to wine and dine and cut deals.
Mawarire now enjoys residency there – quite a feat considering that a few weeks back he was mourning that he had failed in his fatherly duties to fend for his children and send them to school.
It is a trite point to make that now he is enjoying the opulence he scarcely could dream of.
What is more, he is now levying his followers money to eat and take pictures with him.
We reported yesterday that it costs you a tidy sum of US$75 to break bread with him.
At least that is what he is charging as he is visiting America at the moment.
Talk of a money-spinning venture!
It should also be borne in mind that our Patson once hobnobbed with the same Mawarire and has been keen to be associated with him.
But then Mawarire may yet belong to a completely different social rung now.
Lucky him!
We wonder what else Patson will do to get the attention and money he so craves.
Parade his parents this time around?
