A ONCE-IN-A GENERATION STAR. . . Actress reflects on SA soapie role

ACTRESS Victoria ‘Queen Victoria’ Kuyeri has reflected on her dance with South Africa’s finest actors after she featured in ‘Generations the Legacy’ soapie.

Queen Victoria said her journey started in 2012 when she settled across the Limpopo.

“I went to SA and started working there in a restaurant as a waitress before doing event facilitation.

“I also do marketing and acting as a part-time job.

“I am someone who can do anything, as long as there is an opportunity I can accept,” she said.

She said her passion for acting started when she was still young.

“Since I was young, at school, I wanted to be a television personality, model, presenter or an actress.

“I used to act at school and, in 2011, I won Miss Beauty and Brains Avondale.

“So, when I went to SA, I got some connections and featured in the Bad Bishop Netflix movie coming soon, done a Nigerian commercial for Hero Beer with Whitemoney, who won the last Big brother Naija, and I also act as a nurse in ‘Generations the Legacy.’”

The beauty queen said it’s not easy to make a breakthrough in a foreign land.

“In a foreign land, it’s not easy but we keep pushing.

“Back home, I have done different skits.

“I am also a manager to Kyrie Wallace, a South-Africa based musician and the Nhira Brothers, the siblings to the late Anne Vimbai Nhira, the former Studio 263 actress.

“I have been in gospel videos, including Benny Haddasah Muzanamombe, Dorcas Moyo, featuring Carol Muzambi and Timothy Ngwenya, Bethany Pasinawako, Tryson Chimbetu.”

Queen Victoria said it’s not easy to be a woman in the industry.

“I feel blessed but it’s not easy to get the main role since nyaya yemapaper is a disadvantage.

“Men think we are prostitutes, it’s difficult to be appreciated.

“Even getting the opportunities, it’s also a challenge.

“But, I am a person who has an I-don’t-care attitude.

“I care about God, I don’t care what people think.”
