A song for Zimbabwe

based in South Africa, Murungweni has not forgotten about his homeland. The 31-year-old electrician-cum-musician has released an eight-track album titled “Zvaitwa Ishe” that features a praise song for Zimbabwe.
Titled “Vakamutenda”, the song talks about how Zimbabweans continue to co-exist in harmony out of God’s will despite efforts by some people to divide them.
The song comes at an opportune time when many are wishing bad things to befall the country.
That God wants his people to live and see another good day and live life in peace and happiness is the message carried in the song “Rakanaka” where the musician says: “What a beautiful day it was when I first met the Creator, who is the author of our redemption.”
“Mundirangarire” is a plea to God to remember his people in times of travails. The song, however, goes an extra mile in infusing hope in those who are cornered not to give up but look up to God for salvation.
In “Ndinotora” those who curse God when misfortune befalls them are chided not to blaspheme but instead soldier on and keep on praying for redemption, which is further cemented by the song “Tafura” about how God comes to the rescue of those who have faith in Him.
“Zuva Redu” goes an extra step in saying that victory awaits who are patient enough to wait for the day set aside for them by the Lord.
The album closes with the instrumental version to the song “Beautiful Day”.
Recorded at Victory Oasis Music in South Africa, the album is Victor’s second after “Venite” which he did with Nyasha Farawu and also featured Clive Mono Mkundu.
Victor, who was recently in the country, revealed that he is planning to launch the album in Zimbabwe.
Apart from recording his own music and his electrical profession, Victor is also teaching students in various schools and colleges in South Africa how to play the guitar.
Born on January 9, 1980 in Bindura, Victor says he is driven by his desire to spread the gospel through music.
“I have a desire to bring the sermons in song through the unique way that God inspired me,” he said.
Victor started off an actor and poet at school before honing his music career at the AFM Church where he was part of the church choir.
