team’s five goals, in a nine-goal thriller at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, but it was the breathtaking quality of some of the goals.
His team, Black Leopards, edged amateur side Cape Town All-Stars with a 5-4 victory in the first round to avoid the humiliation of losing to such a lowly team.

And, when Lidoda Duvha needed someone to rise and shine, Amidu was there for his team.
Speaking from his base in Polokwane yesterday Amidu, who is now the leading scorer in the tournament, says he is enjoying his game.
“I managed to score the first goal, they equalised, l scored again and they kept equalising but we kept pushing and l managed to score the winner in the extra time,” said Amidu.
“It was a great feeling, I am happy with my performance but l am not satisfied. l just want to keep on improving.
“Our club has been to the final of the Nedbank Cup before and some of us we were not yet here, so we want to win. l have never been played in the Caf Confederation before and it would be a good experience.
“I am also the current top goal scorer and there are some awards to be won in this Cup, it would be nice to win.”
Amidu says as a foreigner, it was important that he excels and a good show would also put the spotlight on Zimbabwean players with clubs coming here to search for the next good ones.
“As a player from Zimbabwe, when we are here we don’t play for ourselves but also for the others who are back home because if we play well here, there will be clubs going to Zimbabwe to look for more players,” said Amidu.
“We are now looking forward to the match against Platinum Stars.
“We also hope we will build on this and improve on our league position and survive relegation.”
The Nedbank Cup Round of 32 posted some interesting results with Takesure Chinyama’s Pirates falling by the wayside to lowly Maluti Fet College over the weekend.
On Wednesday Amazulu, home to Tapuwa Kapini, Carrington Nyadombo and Ramson Zhuwawo, were booted out by Tembu Royals.
Moroka Swallows, Ajax Cape Town and Wits University have also been booted out in the first round of the tournament.
