YOUNG people have been urged to abstain from drug and substance abuse and live healthy lifestyles.
Zimbabwe National Organisation of Associations Residents Trust national chairman, Shalvar Chikomba, said the youths are the future of the country.
“Drugs and other narcotics have decimated our youths.
“We are, therefore, sending you as our community leaders to go and stand for the future of our land.
“We are appealing to the Government to empower these youths through projects so that they understand that without them, Zimbabwe has no future to talk about,” he said.
He said the youths play an important role in achieving the national vision.
“Our thrust and focus is on the welfare of residents and to achieve total service delivery for residents, thereby developing our nation towards Vision 2030.
“Overlooking these issues is threatening the sustainable and orderly existence of our country, and the future generations of our motherland.
“In order to fully support the country’s development, transparency in processes should be ensured as they often determine the accountability for the delivery of outputs and results,” he said.
Chikomba said they were concerned about uncollected refuse, lack of transparency, corruption and water shortages, which all affect residents.
“We are calling on Councils and service providers to fully execute their mandates,” he said.
