Academic empowerment indaba on the cards

EMPOWERED By Vee, an organisation founded by education activist Varaidzo Kativhu (25), is set to hold its sixth annual Academic Empowerment Conference virtually on August 13.

The conference, which targets underrepresented and unsupported 16-18-year-old students, sold out all tickets.

It aims to bridge the gap between academic ability and self-belief.

With success in supporting over 17 000 students since its establishment in 2018, the conference provides workshops and sessions addressing issues such as imposter syndrome, rejection and productivity.

Kativhu, who is also a United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Young Leader recipient, was excited the conference would finally be held.

“It’s an annual event, but it never stops to excite me.

“We spend a lot of time planning the event to help students with some academic empowerment.”
