Academy players get scholarships

Descent Dube, Sports Reporter
THREE Skies Las Palmas Academy players are living the dream after getting scholarships at local elite school Prince Edward High in Harare and in the United States of America.

Skies Las Palmas is a Bulawayo-based football academy that has embarked on a “Catch Them Young” initiative aimed at grooming young talented footballers between the ages of five and 18.

Marvelous Bonasi is already in Florida, United States, after impressing college representatives. Mthabisi Ncube will go to Prince Edward where he will be joined by Tyrese Swazi and Phanankosi Ncube for a scholarship trial.

Co-founder of the academy Gremah Ndebele said the academy takes pride in exporting talent and hopes they can maintain the momentum.

“An academy is a perfect preparation for students as they get an opportunity to further their education through scholarships. The US education system is famous for successfully combining academia and sport, therefore as an academy we’re proud to accomplish this for our players,” said Ndebele.

“Many players confirm that their dream is to become professional footballers and work hard to accomplish this goal. Others will discover new passions and use their academic expertise to explore opportunities as professionals in other fields,” he said. – @DecoDecent2
