imbube/isicathamiya all-male outfit Amavevane Acapella, whose journey started off as a soccer team, but morphed into something much more artistic is readying a new album to further consolidate their place in the local music space.

As a follow-up album to Endlelen’ Enzima released in 2021, the outfit is busy in the studio recording a new project.

A group member, Silinganiso Ndlovu, said the album has been necessitated by the need to supply their loyal fans with new material.

“Since 2021, we’ve been a bit quiet and we feel like it’s about time we satiate our fans’ appetite and give them something they’ll enjoy.

This is a gift for their loyalty over the years and we’re committed to giving them the best as we’ve always done,” Ndlovu said.

“It’s been a long time coming as we usually give them singles and now, a collective project is a necessity.”

The group is known for its melodious voices laced into the imbube/isicathamiya genre. Their dances encompass styles such as gumboot, umchongoyo, amabhiza and isitshikitsha.

Formed in 1996, the group, formerly known as White Umfolosi, has raised the Zimbabwean flag high internationally. They have performed for revered people that include the late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe and the late Queen Elizabeth.
