THE Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide professional accountancy and finance studies at the university.ACCA is a globally recognised entity that trains professional accountants in chartered accounting, finance and management.

It has over 500,000 students in more than 170 countries including Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the launch of ACCA studies at the National University of Science and Technology last week, ACCA head of education Michael Goro said the agreement was part of their mandate to tutor academically competent and socially literate students.

The MoU also seeks to provide a foundation for relations with ACCA even for students outside Nust.

For one to be listed as an ACCA student, he or she has to have a degree in accounting, two A Level passes, and Mathematics and English Language at O Level.

Nust director for information and  public relations Felix Moyo said ACCA studies at the university would begin in September.

“Studies are going to start this coming semester, the registration process is already open to those who want to take the studies,” he said.
Moyo also said the joint venture between Nust and ACCA would unveil more opportunities for the nation.
