Accident claims two lives

TWO people died and several others were injured when a commuter omnibus they were travelling in side-swiped with a school bus travelling in the opposite direction near Mvuma on Saturday. The accident occurred at 6.23AM on the 14 kilometre peg along the Mvuma–Gweru Road.

Acting officer commanding police in Midlands, Assistant Commissioner Musarashana Mabunda confirmed the incident.
Asst Comm Mabunda said two people died on the spot when the commuter omnibus they were travelling in side-swiped with a bus belonging to Serima High School which was travelling to Mvuma.

“I can confirm that two people died when a commuter omnibus they were travelling in side-swiped with a Serima High School bus which was travelling to Gweru.

“The commuter omnibus then veered off the road and landed on its side killing two passengers on the spot,” he said.
Asst Comm Mabunda said the injured were ferried to Mvuma District Hospital where they were receiving treatment.

He urged motorists to adhere to road rules and regulations.
