ACTIVE Youth Zimbabwe (AYZ), a drug rehabilitation organisation has started constructing a drug and rehabilitation centre in the Pumula South suburb of Bulawayo to fight drug abuse in the city.
The founder of AYZ, Romeo Matshazi said this initiative was fuelled by the need to create a centre where people facing addiction can get help.
“We have acquired a piece of land to support our cause and build facilities for our operations. We feel that having a suitable venue will enable us to serve the community and provide young people with alternatives,” he said.
Matshazi indicated that the rehabilitation centre is dedicated to providing support to people battling with drug addiction.

“The facility is devoted to providing care and support to those battling drug addiction in our community.
“Our goal is to offer all-inclusive services such as medical detox, inpatient care, outpatient care and aftercare.
“We will provide tailored drug treatment programmes and a variety of therapeutic interventions to assist people in getting better,” he said.
He stated that they will employ qualified people at the facility to ensure quality service delivery.
“The project seeks to employ qualified personnel who will be at the drug treatment centre, grooming and providing services tailored to improve the lives of youth.
“AYZ will provide solid solutions like offering addiction therapies, detoxification programmes and offer sports and arts activities with the centre as a way of keeping young people busy and occupied,” he said.
Matshazi said they are appealing for funds to help in completing the structure.
“We are glad that a number of partners have come in to help us with material to build up the structure.
“We are appealing to the public for help in completing the structure which will help our city immensely,” he said.
