VETERAN actor, Chati “Chatikobo” Butao, says he enjoys working with Taurai “Gringaldinho” Boora.
He said Taurai reminds him of the late Lazarus “Gringo” Boora, whom he worked with for years, before his death in 2020.
He was 47.
Taurai took over the baton but he needed support from yesteryear stars.
“Currently, I am working with Gringo Junior Taurai Boora, the son of the late Gringo Lazarus Boora at Pwaaaaka skits, it has been a great opportunity to work with him and showing him the ropes,” he said.
“I started acting at primary school where we used to have a drama group.
“From there, myself and the other community guys like Wilson Biswell, formed a gymnastics, clowning act and drama group.
“As an individual I was interested in theatre, that’s where it all started.
“We had challenges of funding which led us to touring schools around the country doing performances for free, with the help of the Ministry of Education.
“I worked with different theatre groups, I was inspired by a man called Ben Sibenge, better known as Mr Shereni, in the soap Studio 263.
“My first breakthrough for television was in 2010 when I featured in a production called Simuka Upenye, written and directed by Agnes Gwatiringa.
“I was nominated for Outstanding Film and Television actor ( NAMA) awards 2011.”
Chatikobo has worked on several projects like Dust and Fortunes, Saloon.com also on “Gringo Troublemaker,” which was written by Enock Chihombori and directed by Ben Mahaka.
He was nominated for Outstanding Film and Television actor category 2014 NAMA awards.
Apart from acting he is a Props Master and a Production Set Decorator and a Brand Ambassador.
