VETERANS Obidiah Tarumbwa and Thabani Goredema are set to play for Adachi in the Zifa Southern Region Division One League this coming season.

The duo who have vast experience playing at the top level are part of coach Johannes Ngodzo’s plans to get Adachi promoted into the topflight league. Tarumbwa’s career has seen him play football in Belgium, Cyprus, Kenya and South Africa while Goredema has played for the likes of CAPS United, Chicken Inn, Bulawayo City and Hwange. According to Ngodzo, the duo will bring much-needed experience to the team which wants to get a ticket into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

“We are trying to assemble a young squad but when you play in this league, you will never win the championship using youngsters only. There is a need to have experience in the team if we are to be one of the best teams in the league. l am happy with our preparations for the upcoming season. I am positive we will do well,” said Ngodzo.

Adachi have made some technical adjustments to their team which sees Philani “Beefy” Ncube who was head coach last season taking up the role of technical director. Ngodzo was assistant to Ncube last season. The former midfield maestro has had coaching stints at Bantu Rovers and Bulawayo City.

Ngodzo won many accolades during his career as a player, including second runner-up in the 2002 Soccer Star of the Year, Highlanders Player of the Year, Grizzlers Sizzlers Player of the Month, and several league titles with Highlanders. He will now be hoping to win titles with Adachi. Adachi is bankrolled by Australia-based Adrian Mtungwazi through his company, Adachi Disability Services.

Last season, the team had the likes of seasoned goalkeeper Nonjabulo Dube formerly with How Mine and Bulawayo City, ex-Tsholotsho FC defender Thandolwenkosi Ncube, the quintet of former Bulawayo City players, Elton Ndlovu, Welcome Ndiweni, Innocent Kutsanzira and Crispen Machisi (all midfielders) in their ranks.
