It might have been her debut at the venue, but the 24-year-old made the moment worthwhile for the handful of fans that braved the cold to see her perform.
Adiona, as she has come to be known, was a lively ball of charisma on stage, a trait that she extended to her audience through a dynamic performance.
She put her best foot forward and dished one classic after the other from the songs she wrote since launching her music career at the age of 16.
Her timeless music sounded like hit tracks pulled from the Motown Records archives.
It was clear that there was more to Adiona than meets the eye. Her singles “I am All Woman”, “Boom Boom”, “Love is You”, clearly confirm that the happiness she enjoys came after a patch of pain and heartbreak.
One of her songs, “Your Joy” that she dedicated to her father, brought Ammara Brown, who was in the crowd, to tears.
It took time for Ammara to get composed, but Adiona was quick to hype up the mood with more love songs. Some of them dedicated to her movie producer husband, Munyaradzi Chidzonga, another for her mother and her child
“I chose to sing neo-soul because I want my music to have emotions. I want it to touch people in different ways,” she said.
“I have worked on a number of singles some of them that are already playing on local radio.
“By the end of the year, I will have compiled some of them to come up with an album entitled ‘Beyond the Brown Eyes’.
“I chose the title because I want to tell the story that is behind this face,” she said.
