Warriors fall 2-1 to DRC

Zimbabwe’s AFCON 2027 Group E qualifying campaign suffered a setback tonight after the Warriors lost 2-1 to the Democratic Republic of Congo at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

The result came as the national team played a competitive home international at the National Sports Stadium for the first time in about five years.

Thousands of fans packed the stadium to witness the long-awaited homecoming, with President Mnangagwa among the high-profile figures in attendance to cheer on the Warriors against the Leopards.

Despite the massive support, it was the visitors who walked away with all three points.
