AFM Hillside wins provincial choir contest

Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe Hillside Unlimited Grace Centre Choir are Harare East Province’s champions this year after they won the Church Choir Competition held in Cranborne last weekend.
In the competition, the choir impressed the judges that were drawn from other church denominations when they performed the selected song “Siya Mambure”.
Choir director Kevin Kasimba said: “I am happy with the performance of the choir because the competition was stiff.

“We faced threats in the form of AFM Waterfalls Assembly who came out second and also AFM Sunningdale but we are happy to have come out the best.”
The choir has earned the right to compete in the national choral competition that will feature 50 outstanding choirs in the country on November 15 at the Midlands State University.

“It is even exciting as we are a new church that is barely three years old. This year was our second attempt at the choral competitions.
“Last year we did not do so well but because of intensive practice and dedication we managed to be on first place. I am aware that the competition will be even tight but we are working on being victorious again at the national competitions,” he said

The competitions are aimed at improving the standards of choral music in the church.
