AFM Tower of Babel. . . Locked out pastors approach court

FIVE Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) of Zimbabwe pastors have proved that chaos is still the order of the day at their churches as they on different occasions ran to courts to try and ban certain congregants from attending their services.

On the other hand, it’s a war between two pastors fighting over leading the same church with one having church premises welded so that no one gains entry.

In their applications, they stated the following: “I am Francis William Sibanda, the resident pastor of AFM in Zimbabwe, Luveve Shalom in Old Luveve. I am applying for a peace order against Varaidzo Mutasa who is disturbing peace at our church by locking us out and provoking violence, therefore he must not come to our church premises.”

In response Pastor Mutasa dismissed the allegations of ever threatening or disrupting Sibanda’s peace.

In his opposing affidavit Mutasa, who is being represented by Tanaka Law Chambers it was said: “Respondent denies that he has ever threatened or disrupted the peace of the applicant. To that end, he denies ever locking out the applicant let alone provoking violence.

“In any event, applicant has no right to be at the premises in question as he was dismissed. If anything, it is the applicant coming through to disturb our services when he has been dismissed. Applicant has sealed off the entrance into the church by having it welded.

“He is no longer a pastor of AFM Zimbabwe. He was dismissed for gross misconduct on 26 October 2018. Copies of dismissal letter and determination are hereto attached. On this basis alone, the application should be dismissed with costs.”

Then the other four pastors’ applications stated the following: “I am Lovemore Chido, pastor of Emmanuel Miracle Centre Assembly of the AFM in Zimbabwe which is in Nkulumane 12, hereby seek a peace order against Amon Dube Madawo from disturbing and disrupting services of the assembly.”

Pastor Tafadzwa Chirebvu of Bethlehem Assembly and Pastor Akson Chitsa of Fountain of Life Assembly of AFM in Zimbabwe also applied for peace orders against Amon Dube Madawo whom they accused of disrupting church services.

Pastor Chigoda Juakinyu of Philippi Assembly of AFM in Zimbabwe also sought for a peace order against Clever Mupakaida who disrupts his church services.

The Western Commonage magistrate Urgent Vundla dismissed the applications as the respondents were in default while the one for Pastor Francis William Sibanda against Varaidzo Mutasa is still pending.
