BULAWAYO giants, Highlanders will tomorrow hold a fundraising dinner at a local hotel as part of measures to improve its revenue inflows. The Bulawayo giants believe that the interactive dinner would enable them to get ideas and establish relations with the corporate world. Bosso chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede said: “As per members’ views at the mid-year meeting, we are having a corporate dinner on July 24. A table for 10 is going for $450 and we encourage individuals who might be interested in attending to inquire at our offices so that reservations are made for them.

“We can’t say there is a specific target that we want to raise from the dinner because we might restrict those that have the desire to give more. It’s not a secret that we need assistance and we hope to get a favourable response.”

Highlanders have been in financial morass for some time, with debts hovering above $500,000.

The club is in the process of rehabilitating its clubhouse grounds to enable the team to use the facility for training from next year after getting the watering system up and running.

Gumede said Highlanders can save a substantial amount by training at its own facility as they presently spend about $500 a week in ground rentals for training purposes.

The veteran administrator said Highlanders would also embark on a “$1 for Bosso” campaign, which is aimed at encouraging supporters to donate a $1 each time they attend home games.

During the last home game against Triangle United, the club raised $355 from the campaign.

Gumede expressed his gratitude to Ingwebu Breweries, who donated $2,500 worth of opaque beer to Highlanders’ Manwele Beer Garden franchise, which they used to prepare for one of their recent games.
