A 58-year-old truck driver was arrested today (Tuesday) after he was allegedly found in possession of at least two tonnes of dagga at a truck stop in Southerton, Harare.

Tapson Ndou was arrested following a tip-off indicating that a 30-tonne truck carrying a large consignment of dagga had entered Zimbabwe on its way from South Africa.

Upon stopping the vehicle, a subsequent search of the truck reportedly led to the discovery of at least two tonnes of dagga concealed in the vehicle.

Ndou allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the contraband.

He was taken into custody and is assisting police with investigations.
